Frequently asked questions

What is a certified translation?

A certified translation is a complete and accurate translation accompanied by a signed statement from the translator or translation company confirming its accuracy. Authorities in Guyana and abroad usually require it for official documents such as birth certificates, diplomas and court records.

Does Guyana issue apostilles?

Yes. Guyana joined the Hague Apostille Convention and has applied it since 18 April 2019. Public documents issued in Guyana can receive an apostille from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and are then accepted in other member countries without further embassy legalization.

My document is going to a country that does not accept apostilles. What then?

Then the document needs consular or embassy legalization: it is authenticated in Guyana and then legalized by the embassy or consulate of the destination country. We manage the full chain for you.

How much does it cost?

Prices depend on the language pair, the number and type of documents, and whether notarisation, an apostille or legalization is needed. Send us your documents for a free, fixed quote.
