Translation and legalization services in Guyana

Whether you are emigrating, studying abroad, getting married, registering a company or bringing foreign documents into Guyana, we prepare your paperwork so it is accepted.

Certified translation

A certified translation is what most authorities ask for when a document is not in their language. We translate the full document, reproduce stamps and signatures with clear notes, and attach a signed certificate of accuracy on our letterhead.

  • Full translation of every page, stamp and handwritten note
  • Signed and stamped certificate of accuracy
  • Layout matching the original document

Apostille

Guyana has been a party to the Hague Apostille Convention since 18 April 2019. An apostille is a single certificate, issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that confirms the signature and seal on a Guyanese public document so it is recognised in more than 120 other member countries.

  • Document check and advice on the correct procedure
  • Notarisation or certified copy when needed beforehand
  • Submission to and collection from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Embassy and consulate legalization

Some countries do not accept the apostille. Documents going there must be legalized: authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Guyana and then legalized by the embassy or consulate of the destination country.

  • Checking the current requirements of the destination embassy
  • Notarisation and Ministry of Foreign Affairs authentication
  • Submission to the embassy or consulate and collection

Notary services

Many documents need a notary's certification before they can be translated, apostilled or presented abroad. We coordinate certified true copies, powers of attorney, affidavits and signature certifications with qualified notaries and commissioners of oaths.

  • Certified true copies of passports, diplomas and certificates
  • General and specific powers of attorney
  • Affidavits and statutory declarations

Document retrieval

Getting an official document from Guyana is difficult when you live abroad or far from Georgetown. With your written authorisation, we request and collect it for you, and can translate and apostille it before sending it to you.

  • Birth, marriage and death certificates
  • Police clearance certificates
  • Academic transcripts and diplomas

Interpreting

When people must understand each other exactly — in a negotiation, a court hearing, a notary appointment or a medical consultation — a professional interpreter makes the difference. We provide interpreters on site in Guyana and remotely by phone or video.

  • Consecutive interpreting for meetings and interviews
  • Simultaneous interpreting for conferences, with equipment
  • Liaison interpreting for site visits and negotiations
