Apostille: Bartica

Guyana has been a party to the Hague Apostille Convention since 18 April 2019. An apostille is a single certificate, issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that confirms the signature and seal on a Guyanese public document so it is recognised in more than 120 other member countries.

Bartica

Bartica, capital of Region 7, sits where the Essequibo, Mazaruni and Cuyuni rivers meet, and is the gateway to Guyana's mining districts. We translate contracts, permits and personal documents for miners, companies and families here.

Send a scan or photo of your documents through the form or by email. We reply with a fixed quote and delivery date. Certified translations are delivered as PDFs by email; when originals are needed for an apostille or embassy, we arrange courier collection and return.

Before an apostille can be issued, the document usually has to be an original or a certified copy from the issuing authority — for example a birth certificate from the General Register Office or a police clearance from the Guyana Police Force. Some documents, such as private contracts or powers of attorney, first need to be signed before a notary or commissioner of oaths.

We check your document, tell you exactly which preparatory steps are needed, submit it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and return it to you with the apostille attached. If the destination country also needs a translation, we can translate either the document alone or the document and the apostille together, in the order that country requires.

Frequently asked questions

Which documents can receive an apostille in Guyana?

Public documents issued in Guyana: civil-status certificates, court documents, notarial acts, police clearances, academic documents issued by public institutions, and official certificates placed on private documents, such as a notary's certification of a signature.

Do I still need embassy legalization after an apostille?

Not if the destination country is a party to the Apostille Convention. For countries that are not, the document must be legalized through the embassy or consulate instead.

Can a translation be apostilled?

A translation can be apostilled after it has been certified before a notary, which turns it into a public document. Whether this is needed depends on the destination country, and we will advise you.
